TTV Stiphout player Frederique van Hoof will participate in the Paralympic Games this summer together with Kelly van Zon. For Frederique it will be her first Paralympic Games.
Dream
Since 2019, Frederique van Hoof has been focusing on the Paralympic Games in Paris in 2024. However, her dream came true earlier. She tells Tafeltennis.nl: “I was completely over the moon when I heard that I would be going to Tokyo. I had known since May that the opportunity was there, but I even kept the news quiet from my family and friends. I had to cancel my summer vacation and many appointments with friends. I am happy that I can finally say that I have a good reason for that, haha.”
Frederique considers it an honor to play with Kelly van Zon in the team tournament. She says: “I have a lot of admiration and respect for her and can learn a lot from her. We have a good bond and hopefully the doubles will go well for us. It will be a great adventure anyway. It is a pity that my family cannot come to Japan, but hopefully they will see me play in Paris in 2024.”
Thanks in part to the Johan Cruyff Foundation, Frederique was able to make the step to top-level sport. Read more about her story and the collaboration between the NTTB and the JCF.
