On Saturday 21 January it was busy in Stiphouse. No fewer than 32 members took part in the
senior club championships. Among them also the youth club champion, Ryan Sanders and the
recreational club champion, Lambert Cox. After all, there was a fight for the title Overall
Club champion and then the winners of the other tournaments can also participate.
It started with 8 four-athletes, where the rating was decisive for the draw. After some
surprises in this first round, the numbers 1 and 2 advanced to the main draw and the
numbers 3 and 4 to the consolation tournament. In the first follow-up rounds, four camps were played again
played. The winners of the four-athletes in the main round played on for places 1 to 4,
the numbers 2 played for the places 5 to 8 etc.
The women's title again went to Carolien, who won the 2022 edition with Yvette.

The 4 players who reached the semi-finals were Erwin, Jörgen, Peter and Tomislav. Erwin played
against Tomislav and Jörgen against Peter. This resulted in a final of Erwin against Jörgen. Erwin,
reigning club champion and Jörgen, multiple club champion. Both gentlemen made a beautiful one
fight of. In the fifth and decisive game it seemed to be Jörgen who came to 9-6, but
in the end Erwin managed to take the win with some brilliant points and with that his title
to extend.
A few did-you-knows about the tournament:
– it had been a long time since we had so many participants
– a total of 128 matches were played (so now calculated)
– Bilal, only a member since the Thursday before, immediately showed that you always participate in this tournament
– Ario became 17th and thus winner of the consolation tournament
– Ton was the oldest participant, but still able to play 8 games
– Carlo did not reach the top 4 by winning 1 game too little
– Roland did not reach the top 4 by not using some match points
– The top 10 have qualified for the Top 12 after the summer. These are supplemented with
wild cards and reserve players (by rating)
– Despite the crowds, Walter could easily handle the bar shift on his own
– Jan was not last
