Lights out, spotlight on! Or better said lights out and ball on! After the hard preparatory work of various people, the playroom was completely ready. The windows were tinted, all fluorescent tubes replaced, fences and tables were covered with luminous tape, decorations were hung up and not to forget luminous balls were tracked down. All this to ensure that on February 23rd we as TTV Stiphout could experience this unique event. Namely the Neon Carnival tournament! In which the players (29 in total) dressed in carnival and/or neon outfits competed against each other in a room with only blacklight lighting.
The participants who entered shuffled carefully to the locker room as a first introduction to the changed lighting. At 14:00 the starting shot of the tournament sounded, who would be able to handle the conditions best?
The game did not become easier due to the reduced visibility and light. What effect does my opponent give? How exactly does he serve? These are questions that many players struggled with. Still, it was a very good training to focus on the ball and nothing else but the ball. The players who mastered this best won their matches. Results achieved in the past no longer counted and “ELO” differences of more than 400 points were easily bridged.
In total, all participants played 6 fun / exciting / enjoyable matches. At the same time, it was cozy in the canteen and there was a lot of talk about the games played.
But as in every competition, there can only be one winner. On this day, that player managed to win all his matches. Tim van Dalen Congratulations on this great victory.
Of course there were also prizes for the best (blacklight) carnival outfits. For the seniors the outfit of Arthur van den Bosch the best in neon lighting and among the youth was Luke the shining example.
TTV Stiphout has been around for 60 years, but during carnival 11 is the magic number, if you manage to get exactly 11 times 11 points, then this should not be forgotten. It was Lambert who managed to achieve exactly this magical number of 121 points!
This was the first very successful anniversary event. The following events: Pub quiz (Friday 21 March for members 16+ and for members of associations from the region), the escape game (with chip van!) for youth members on Saturday 22 March (15:00 - 17:30) and in the evening of 22 March the dropping (20:00-23:00).
