A day after the pub quiz and after the youth afternoon had taken place in the afternoon, it was time for the dropping. 25 participants, divided over 6 groups took part in the dropping that was specially organised for us by Scouting Jan Baloys. For some the dropping was 'remember old times' for others 'the first time'. Many of the participants had already taken part in the pub quiz the day before and/or were at the youth afternoon in the afternoon. Kudos to those tough guys!
The participants were taken blindfolded in cars to 6 different drop-off points. It was not made easy for the participants: with a shortest walking distance of about 9 to 10 kilometers, it was important that you tried not to walk the wrong way, because then you might not make the pre-estimated end time (23:00/23:30). That was quite a challenge anyway, because the 5 assignments that were given also took a considerable amount of time.
The teams had to answer a questionnaire, several of which were scouting related. There was also a swap game, in which you had to swap a pen for a larger/more expensive item. Team 2 performed very well in this, returning with a leather football and a wheelbarrow! The way in which these items were obtained… In any case, they have returned to their rightful owners… The teams also had to create a work of art from litter. It is remarkable that there is so little litter in the region. But here too, team 2 took the crown. Anyway, they had to walk back to Stiphouse through Helmond. The teams also had to make time to create a real painting of an image on the route that you can find on Google Maps. Beautiful creations were delivered, whereby the jury (consisting of people from Scouting) did not always agree with the participating teams (with the exception of the winners). And to top it all off, they were asked to come up with a club song. Team 4 won this event by coming up with new lyrics to the melody of 'Vur welke club bende gai' (Helmond Sport) and performing them with great dedication.
Only 2 teams managed to get back to Stiphouse within the expected end time. One team took 1.5 hours longer, but that also had to do with a necessary stop at 'De Kim'. In the end, the team of the Van de Konijnenberg family won this edition of the dropping! Congratulations! On the one hand, we hope that they can enjoy this for a long time, but on the other hand, it would also be nice if a new dropping is not too long in coming.
